Why do so many traders dismiss ICT and SMC as overhyped?

ICT and SMC have huge followings but also loud critics who call them repackaged concepts, overcomplicated, or impossible to backtest. Some traders swear by them, others say they're marketing. Where do you stand, and what's your honest experience?
