Why do prop firms forfeit your account if you don't trade for 30 days?

Earl Christian

If you pass an evaluation and wait for optimal market conditions, why should sitting on your hands cost you your account? Is the 30-day inactivity rule a legitimate risk control measure to clean up dead accounts, or just a way to force traders to take low-quality setups out of fear of losing their challenge fee?

It's definitely more about forcing low-quality trades than risk management. Real risk control is knowing when not to trade. Forcing a trader to enter the market every 30 days just to keep an account active defeats the purpose of waiting for high-probability setups.
