How do you refine Parabolic SAR trailing stops for better exits?

Trailing stops using SAR can be tightened by adjusting the acceleration factor or combining with ATR. Tighter trails lock profits faster but exit early. Looser trails capture bigger moves but give back gains. How do you refine SAR trailing stops?
