How do you handle a trade that moves sideways for hours?

A position may remain open without reaching either its target or stop-loss, testing the trader's patience. Closing early may free up attention, but it could also interfere with the original strategy. Do you give trades a maximum time to develop, or do you let price reach your planned exit levels?
