What is your opinion on scaling into a winning position?

Adding to a position after price moves favourably can increase exposure to a successful trade, but it also introduces additional risk. The decision becomes more complicated when the account has strict drawdown limits. Under what circumstances, if any, would you consider adding to an existing position?
