Should traders wait for evidence of readiness before buying another challenge?

After an unsuccessful evaluation, it can be tempting to purchase another one immediately. Reviewing performance and identifying the causes of failure may be more useful than simply starting again. What evidence would you want to see in your trading records before deciding that you're ready for another attempt?
