Are Challenge Extensions Valuable if the Trading Approach Has Not Improved?

An extension may give a trader more time to complete an evaluation, but extra time does not automatically improve decision-making. Under what circumstances would an extension be worthwhile, and when might it simply prolong an unsuccessful attempt?
