What Is an Unfinished Auction?
Have you heard of unfinished auctions on footprint charts?
In common footprint-chart terminology, an unfinished auction occurs when the extreme of a bar shows trading on both the bid and ask sides rather than the expected one-sided pattern associated with a finished auction.
Some traders watch these areas because price may revisit them.
But a revisit is not guaranteed, and an unfinished auction is not an automatic entry signal.
I would first consider the broader market structure, nearby levels, and whether the area matters to the current trading session.
A chart feature becomes more useful when it supports a tested setup instead of becoming another reason to enter a random trade.
