How to Recognize a Weak Breakout

Sachin Yadav

Not every breakout deserves a trade.

A breakout becomes questionable when price moves beyond an important level but struggles to make further progress.

For example, NQ breaks above resistance, yet buying pressure fails to produce meaningful continuation.

If price then falls back into the previous range, the breakout attempt may be losing credibility.

I would still avoid assuming that weak momentum guarantees a reversal.

Instead, I would wait for a clearly defined trigger and identify the price that invalidates the setup.

The objective isn't to predict every failed breakout.

It's to avoid chasing moves when the evidence for continuation is weak and the potential risk is difficult to justify.
