How to Study a Breakout With Footprint Charts
A practical way to analyze a breakout using footprint charts
Suppose NQ approaches a resistance level that has held several times.
Instead of buying the moment price crosses the line, I would examine the breakout's behavior.
First, does buying activity increase as price moves above resistance?
Second, does price actually progress through the area, or does it struggle despite aggressive buying?
Third, does the market remain above the breakout level after the initial move?
Finally, where would the trade idea become invalid?
A strong breakout and a failed breakout can initially look similar.
The difference often becomes clearer through the market's response after the level is crossed.
I want confirmation that fits my strategy, not a reason to chase a candle.
