Why I Avoid Increasing Size After a Winning Streak

Sachin Yadav

Three winning trades don't mean the next trade deserves a bigger position.

After a profitable streak, confidence can turn into overconfidence.

You begin to feel that you understand the market better than usual, so you increase your position size without sufficient evidence.

But a short winning streak doesn't prove that your strategy's probabilities have changed.

Position sizing should follow a predefined risk framework rather than recent emotions.

If your strategy supports adjusting size based on verified performance or volatility, define those rules in advance.

Otherwise, keep your risk consistent.

The purpose of a winning streak is not to justify taking bigger risks. It's to continue executing your strategy without allowing success to change your discipline.
