What Is Market Replay?
One of my favorite ways to study a trading setup is to replay the market.
Market replay lets you revisit historical price action and examine how a setup developed over time.
Depending on the platform and available data, replay may include trades, footprint information, or historical order-book changes.
For example, I can revisit an NQ breakout and pause at the moment price approaches resistance.
Instead of seeing the finished chart, I can study the information that was available before the outcome became obvious.
This can help reduce hindsight bias and improve decision-making practice.
The quality of replay depends on the historical data available, so I always check what is actually recorded.
The objective is to practice reading the market—not to memorize historical moves.
