My Order Flow Trading Checklist

Sachin Yadav

My checklist before taking an order flow trade

Before entering, I want to answer these questions:

  1. What is the current market structure?

  2. Which important price level am I trading around?

  3. What does the footprint or order book show?

  4. Is price confirming my trading hypothesis?

  5. Where is the setup invalidated?

  6. Does the potential reward justify the risk?

  7. Am I following my plan or reacting emotionally?

If I cannot explain the trade clearly, I don't need to force it.

A checklist won't guarantee profits, but it can reduce impulsive decisions and make trade reviews more useful.

My goal is to build a process that remains consistent whether the previous trade was a winner or a loser.

This is a solid framework for order flow trading. Having a structured checklist helps keep emotions in check and prevents over-trading, which is critical when managing risk.

When trading with a prop firm, maintaining discipline around your setup validity and risk-to-reward ratio is essential for staying well clear of daily loss limits and consistency rules. Impulsive order book entries can quickly breach drawdown thresholds.
