The Psychology of Breaking Even
Why does getting back to breakeven feel so important?
After losing money, some traders become obsessed with returning to their previous account balance.
They may take extra trades or increase risk simply to erase the loss.
But breakeven is an emotional reference point, not a market signal.
A setup doesn't become better because your account is down.
I want to evaluate each opportunity using the same rules, regardless of whether I'm in profit or recovering from a drawdown.
The goal is not to reach a particular balance as quickly as possible.
It's to make decisions with positive expected value while managing risk responsibly.
Your next trade should be justified by its own merits, not by the desire to erase the past.
