What Open Interest Can Tell Me

Open interest measures the number of outstanding futures contracts that have not been closed or settled.

It can help me understand participation alongside volume and price action, but it doesn't tell me by itself whether the market must move up or down.

I treat it as one piece of context, not a standalone buy or sell signal.
