Title: Why Traders Should Understand Their Own Risk Tolerance

Every trader has a different level of comfort with risk. Some people prefer smaller positions and slower growth, while others may accept greater fluctuations in their account balance. I believe the most suitable risk level is one that allows a trader to follow the plan without constant fear. Risk should also remain within the account's rules. How did you decide what percentage of your account to risk per trade?

Deciding your risk percentage per trade comes down to aligning your personal comfort with strict account rules. Many traders start by risking 0.5% to 1% per trade to ensure a string of losses won't trigger a daily loss limit or breach drawdown parameters.

In prop firm trading, understanding this is critical because a single oversized position can violate daily loss limits or consistency rules before your strategy has time to play out. Keeping risk small lets you follow your plan without constant fear.
