Bias Abandon Speed

Michael Francis

How many opposing candles or structure breaks does it take before you fully drop a pre-session bias? Have you measured whether faster abandonment improves your results?

For me, I wouldn’t abandon a pre-session bias based on a fixed number of opposing candles. I’d wait for clear evidence that market structure is changing, such as a break of structure against my bias followed by confirmation.

    My rules would be:

Opposing candles: A warning, not an automatic reversal signal.

One confirmed structure break: Reassess the bias and avoid forcing trades in the original direction.

Break plus confirmation: If price action continues to support the opposite direction, drop the old bias.

Performance measurement: Journal how quickly I abandon invalidated biases and compare win rate, drawdown, and expectancy over a meaningful sample of trades.
