Stop Placement Doubt

Michael Francis

Right after entering, how often do you second-guess the stop level and want to move it? What habit or rule stops you from adjusting out of fear instead of sticking to the original plan?

Right after entering a trade, I sometimes feel the urge to second-guess my stop loss, especially when price moves against me. I'm learning that fear shouldn't be the reason I adjust my stop.

My rule is to place my stop loss at a logical level before entering and only adjust it if my trading strategy gives a valid reason, not because I'm uncomfortable with a temporary drawdown. I also avoid widening my stop loss just to prevent a loss. My focus is on executing the plan, managing risk, and accepting that losses are part of trading. 💯
