Position sizing in bots: fixed lot, percent risk or volatility-based?

Alex Alexander

A bot's sizing logic matters as much as entries. Do you use fixed lots, a percent of equity or ATR-based sizing? Share the method that kept your drawdown manageable and how you compare results between approaches.

I prefer percentage-based risk sizing, with ATR used to adjust stop distance. Fixed lots can expose the account to inconsistent risk as volatility changes. I compare approaches using maximum drawdown, profit factor, and risk-adjusted returns across different market conditions. My priority is keeping risk consistent and protecting capital, not just maximizing profits.
