How Would You Improve Signal Bots Versus Execution Bots?

Alex Alexander

A setup can look perfect on a screenshot and still fail over a meaningful sample. I would define the rules before looking at results, record every qualifying trade, and compare outcomes across different market conditions. What metrics would you require before trusting this idea with real risk? I am especially interested in examples from both trending and ranging conditions, including the trades that failed. Please explain the rules clearly enough that another trader could test them without needing to guess what the chart means. In your experience, what specific rule or metric best separates disciplined use of this trading bots & automation topic from guesswork?

To separate disciplined automation from guesswork, the best metric is Expectancy (or Net Profit per trade over a large sample), combined with a strict max drawdown filter. A signal bot highlights potential setups, whereas an execution bot handles the actual order routing, slippage management, and stop-loss enforcement.

When testing across trending and ranging conditions, always record failed trades to check if your bot violates typical prop firm daily loss limits or consistency rules. A great setup on a screenshot often fails live due to latency or spread widening.
