Don't Just Review Your Profits — Review Your Decisions

Sushant A

After a difficult trading day, ask yourself:

  • Did I follow my entry rules?

  • Was my position size appropriate?

  • Did emotions affect my decisions?

  • What can I improve next time?

A losing day can still provide useful information.

Question: What's the first thing you review after a bad session?

After a tough session, the very first thing to review is your execution against your risk parameters—specifically, whether your position size matched your plan and if you respected your stop losses before emotions took over.

In prop firm trading, reviewing these decisions is vital because a single impulsive trade can breach strict daily loss limits or consistency rules, ending an evaluation instantly. Isolating why a rule was broken helps protect your drawdown.
