Why I Evaluate the Entire Risk of a Trading Day

Sachin Yadav

Each trade has its own risk, but several trades can combine into a much larger exposure for the day.

I consider cumulative losses, remaining risk limits, and whether multiple positions are exposed to the same market event.

This broader view helps me avoid treating every trade as an isolated decision. Managing total exposure is just as important as calculating risk on an individual entry.

Evaluating total daily exposure rather than treating trades in isolation is one of the best habits you can build, especially when trading with a prop firm. Looking at cumulative losses and shared market risk directly helps you respect strict daily loss limits and avoid over-leveraging during high-impact news events. When multiple open positions are tied to the same underlying asset or correlated market driver, a single adverse move can quickly breach your drawdown threshold.
