Sharing rules is one of the best ways to keep yourself accountable and sharpen your edge! A solid trading rule always starts with risk management—defining your maximum risk per trade, respecting daily loss limits, and factoring in news event restrictions if you are trading with prop firms.

One foundational rule many traders live by is never risking more than 1% to 2% of their account balance on a single setup. In prop firm trading, keeping your drawdown tightly managed is vital because breaching a daily loss limit can end a evaluation or funded account instantly.

What is your absolute number-one rule when you sit down at the charts? Drop it below and let's compare strategies!

Good point. My go-to rule is to risk a fixed 0.5% per trade and stop trading for the day once I'm down 1.5%. That keeps me far away from the daily drawdown limit, and one bad session can't end the challenge. I also never move my stop loss further away once a trade is open. Most of my fails came from breaking that one rule. What's yours?"
