Quick answer: Every FundedNext Futures account has an end-of-day trailing maximum loss ($1,000 to $4,000 depending on model and size) that locks at your starting balance plus $100 on Flex, Rapid and Direct. A daily loss limit exists only on Rapid Daily ($500 / $1,000 / $1,250), on Rapid Pro if you buy the add-on, and on Direct ($1,000), and it is a soft breach that pauses you until the next day. Consistency rules differ by stage: 40% in the Flex challenge, 40% on the funded Rapid Pro account, 20% perpetual on Direct, none on Rapid Daily. All positions must be flat by 3:10 PM CT. Rules read on FundedNext's own pages on 21 October 2026.
The fastest way to lose a futures evaluation is not a bad trade. It is a rule you did not know: a trailing loss that moved up overnight, a daily limit counted on open positions, or a consistency rule that quietly raised your target. This guide puts every FundedNext Futures rule into dollars so you can see where the lines are before you trade.

The maximum loss limit (EOD trailing) by model and size
FundedNext's loss limit article calls the maximum loss limit (MLL) "the total amount you can lose ... before the account is permanently breached". It is a hard breach: once hit, the account is gone.
| Model | Size | Maximum loss | Starts at | Locks at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rapid Pro / Daily | $25K | $1,000 | $24,000 | $25,100 |
| Rapid Pro / Daily | $50K | $2,000 | $48,000 | $50,100 |
| Rapid Pro / Daily | $100K | $2,500 | $97,500 | $100,100 |
| Flex | $50K | $1,500 | $48,500 | $50,100 |
| Flex | $100K | $2,500 | $97,500 | $100,100 |
| Flex | $150K | $4,000 | $146,000 | $150,100 |
| Direct | $50K | $2,000 | $48,000 | $50,100 |
| Legacy | $25K / $50K / $100K | $1,000 / $2,000 / $3,000 | balance minus MLL | initial balance |
How does the end-of-day trailing work?
The MLL moves up with your highest end-of-day balance and never moves down. It updates once a day at the end of the trading day (FundedNext states 05:00 PM CT), not in real time. Once it reaches its lock point it stops trailing for good. FundedNext's own example on a $100K Legacy account: balance $101,000 on day 1 puts the MLL at $98,000; balance $103,000 on day 2 puts it at $100,000, where it locks.
Can an open trade breach me before the end of the day?
Yes. The level only updates at the end of the day, but if a floating loss during a live trade touches the current MLL, the account is breached instantly. Treat the MLL as a live line under your equity, not a closing-balance check.
What happens to the MLL after my first payout?
On Flex, Rapid Pro, Rapid Daily and Direct, the first withdrawal sets the MLL to the lock point (initial balance + $100). From then on your cushion is whatever you hold above that line, so a withdrawal shrinks your room. Plan each withdrawal with that in mind.
The daily loss limit: which accounts have one
| Model | Daily loss limit |
|---|---|
| Rapid Daily | $500 / $1,000 / $1,250 ($25K / $50K / $100K) |
| Rapid Pro | None by default; $500 / $1,000 / $1,250 with the add-on |
| Flex | None |
| Legacy | None |
| Direct | $1,000 |
What counts toward the daily loss?
Closed losses, floating losses on open trades, commissions and exchange fees. FundedNext's example on a $50K account with a $1,000 limit: start the day at $50,000, the floor is $49,000. Take $800 in closed losses and you can absorb only $200 more of open loss before trading is disabled.
Is hitting the daily loss limit the end of the account?
No. It is a soft breach: trading is switched off for the rest of the day and resets at the next session. The daily floor also trails with profit: finish day 1 at $51,500 and the next day's floor is $50,500.
Should I set my own daily limit on Flex or Rapid Pro?
FundedNext points out that Tradovate's risk settings let you add a manual daily limit, and it does not change your official rules. If your account has no daily limit, a personal one is the cheapest insurance you can buy.
Consistency rules: 40%, 20% or none
This is where most confusion sits, because the rule changes with both model and stage. FundedNext's consistency rule article gives this map:
| Model | Challenge | Funded account |
|---|---|---|
| Flex | 40% of profit target | None |
| Legacy | 40% of profit target | None |
| Rapid Pro | None | 40% of total profit |
| Rapid Daily | None | None (buffer rule instead) |
| Direct | No challenge | 20% perpetual |
How does the 40% rule work in the Flex challenge?
Your best day should stay at or below 40% of the profit target. Daily thresholds: $1,000 on $50K, $2,000 on $100K, $3,200 on $150K. Go over and the target is recalculated as best day ÷ 0.40. A $1,500 day on a $50K Flex lifts the target from $2,500 to $3,750.
How does the 40% rule work on a funded Rapid Pro account?
It becomes a withdrawal gate. Your highest single-day profit must be 40% or less of your total profit in the cycle. FundedNext's example: $1,500, then $1,200, then $1,800. On day 3 the best day ($1,800) is exactly 40% of $4,500, so the trader is eligible. It always takes at least 3 days.
What is Direct's 20% perpetual consistency rule?
Your best day ever, across all cycles, must be 20% or less of the current cycle's profit. That means every cycle needs at least 5 times your best day. If your best day is $500, each cycle must reach $2,500; a later $600 day raises the bar to $3,000 for every future cycle (Direct Account rules).
Contract limits and what happens if you go over
Limits are fixed at account creation and do not grow with profit: Rapid 2 / 4 / 6 minis (20 / 40 / 60 micros), Flex 3 / 5 / 8 minis (30 / 50 / 80 micros), Direct 3 minis (30 micros). You can mix them at 1 mini = 10 micros. If you go over, only the excess contracts count as violations: their profit is deducted, their losses still count. Details and tick values are in our FundedNext Futures platforms and contract limits guide.
Trading hours, holding and news
- No overnight or weekend holding. Every position must be closed by 3:10 PM CT; anything still open is closed automatically. Trading reopens at 5:00 PM CT, and on Sunday at 5:00 PM CT (trading hours).
- Holiday sessions: close your own trades before an early close; automatic closing may not apply.
- News trading is allowed. FundedNext warns that stops may not fill at your price in fast markets.
- EAs and bots are allowed, without support from FundedNext; VPN and VPS are allowed.
- No daily profit cap, but consistency rules still apply where they exist.
Rules that cost money without breaching you
The micro-scalping rule
Trades opened and closed within 10 seconds are tracked. If they make 30% of your profit in a cycle you get a warning; at 40% or more, that part of the profit is deducted in full. The account is never closed for it, and losing quick trades do not count.
Inactivity
Challenge and funded accounts are breached after 30 consecutive calendar days without a trade; Direct after 7 (inactivity rules).
Prohibited strategies
FundedNext's prohibited strategies list includes platform-error exploitation, account sharing, spoofing, layering, grid and wash trading, latency arbitrage, hedging with correlated instruments or across accounts, trading in gapped or illiquid markets, trading within 2% of CME price limits and unauthorised copy or group trading. Copying is allowed only between accounts you own and verified.
Account limits
Challenges can total up to $750,000 at once. Funded accounts are capped at 5 active per user and per household, with no more than 10 issued in a calendar month.
Turning the rules into a daily plan
Here is a simple way to turn these numbers into trading limits. Take the maximum loss, divide by 5, and never risk more than that on a full day. Divide again by 2 or 3 for the risk on one trade.
| Account | Max loss | Suggested worst day (÷5) | Suggested risk per trade |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rapid $25K | $1,000 | $200 | $100 |
| Rapid $50K | $2,000 | $400 | $150 to $200 |
| Flex $50K | $1,500 | $300 | $100 to $150 |
| Flex $100K | $2,500 | $500 | $170 to $250 |
| Flex $150K | $4,000 | $800 | $270 to $400 |
These are our own planning numbers, not FundedNext rules. Size each trade on the position size calculator, and see the full method in our guide to passing the FundedNext Futures challenge with a risk plan.
Keeping up when the rules change
FundedNext updates its Futures rules from time to time. We read its pages every night and log what changed, with the date, on our prop firm rule changes tracker. If you hold an account, check the tracker before a new cycle and read your dashboard, which always wins over any third-party summary, this one included.
Saving on the account with code BRIDGE
BRIDGE is the exclusive FundedNext Futures code Prop Firm Bridge brings to traders. It is independently verified: Akash Mane, founder of Prop Firm Bridge, tested it by hand at FundedNext Futures' own checkout on 21 October 2026. It lowers the price only; every rule above stays exactly the same. On Rapid Daily $50K, for example, our offer sheet reads "$129.99 off for traders with no prior FundedNext Futures purchase" and "$109.99 off for returning FundedNext Futures buyers"; on Flex $150K, "$234 off for all customers". See today's FundedNext Futures prices with BRIDGE for every size.

My experience: the rule that catches people at FundedNext Futures is almost never the headline drawdown. It is the floating loss touching a trailed MLL mid-trade, or a big Flex day quietly lifting the target. Once I write my worst-day number on a sticky note, both stop being a problem.

Frequently asked questions
It is end-of-day trailing on every model. The maximum loss limit rises with your highest end-of-day balance, never moves down, and locks at the starting balance plus $100 on Flex, Rapid and Direct (at the starting balance on Legacy). A floating loss that touches it during a trade breaches the account at once.
Only on some accounts: Rapid Daily ($500 / $1,000 / $1,250), Rapid Pro with the optional add-on (same amounts) and Direct ($1,000). Flex and Legacy have none. Hitting it is a soft breach that stops trading until the next session.
In the Flex and Legacy challenges, one day's profit should not exceed 40% of the profit target, or the target is recalculated as best day divided by 0.40. On the funded Rapid Pro account, your best day must be 40% or less of total profit before you can withdraw, which takes at least 3 days.
No. All positions must be closed by 3:10 PM CT and anything open is closed automatically. Trading reopens at 5:00 PM CT, and on Sunday at 5:00 PM CT after the weekend.
