Quick answer: most FundedNext accounts are not lost to bad strategy. They are lost to a handful of rules: the daily loss limit (measured from your initial balance, swaps and commission included), the maximum loss, the funded 3% risk limit, the Quick Strike rule on trades closed within 30 seconds, the 40% news rule, and the 30-day inactivity rule. This guide puts each one into dollars for every account size, using FundedNext's own help centre (read 21 October 2026).
If you have not picked a model yet, start with FundedNext 1-Step vs 2-Step vs Lite vs Instant. If you already know your size, the FundedNext coupon page shows every account price, checked daily.
Rule 1: the daily loss limit
FundedNext's formula is simple: Daily Loss Limit = Initial Balance × the daily loss % of your account. It resets every day at 00:00 server time. Swaps, commissions and fees count toward it.
Why it catches traders who are in profit
The limit is measured from the initial balance, not today's equity. FundedNext gives this example: if a $100,000 account starts the day at $110,000 and loses $5,000, the limit is breached, even though equity never touched $95,000. Being up does not give you a bigger daily allowance.
FundedNext's guide also shows that profit closed during the day lifts that day's room: after a $2,000 profit by noon on a $100K 2-Step, the limit for that day becomes $7,000 ($5,000 + $2,000). Once the day resets at 00:00, yesterday's profit no longer counts.
Daily loss in dollars, every size
| Size | 1-Step (3%) | 2-Step (5%) | Lite (4%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $5K | – | – | $200 |
| $6K | $180 | $300 | – |
| $10K | – | – | $400 |
| $15K | $450 | $750 | – |
| $25K | $750 | $1,250 | $1,000 |
| $50K | $1,500 | $2,500 | $2,000 |
| $100K | $3,000 | $5,000 | $4,000 |
| $200K | $6,000 | $10,000 | $8,000 |
Stellar Instant has no daily loss limit at all. Its risk sits entirely in the trailing maximum loss below.
My experience: the trader who breaks the daily limit is rarely the one who loses on one big trade. It is the one who loses three normal trades, then doubles size to win it back before the day ends.
Rule 2: the maximum loss
On 1-Step, 2-Step and Lite, the maximum loss is static: your balance or equity must never drop below a fixed line under the initial balance. Equity matters: a floating loss that touches the line breaches the account even if the trade later recovers.
Maximum loss floor in dollars
| Size | 1-Step (6%) | 2-Step (10%) | Lite (8%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $5K | – | – | $400 (floor $4,600) |
| $6K | $360 (floor $5,640) | $600 (floor $5,400) | – |
| $10K | – | – | $800 (floor $9,200) |
| $15K | $900 (floor $14,100) | $1,500 (floor $13,500) | – |
| $25K | $1,500 (floor $23,500) | $2,500 (floor $22,500) | $2,000 (floor $23,000) |
| $50K | $3,000 (floor $47,000) | $5,000 (floor $45,000) | $4,000 (floor $46,000) |
| $100K | $6,000 (floor $94,000) | $10,000 (floor $90,000) | $8,000 (floor $92,000) |
| $200K | $12,000 (floor $188,000) | $20,000 (floor $180,000) | $16,000 (floor $184,000) |
Stellar Instant: the trailing floor
Instant uses a 6% floor that trails your highest balance and stops at the starting balance. Starting floors: $1,880 on $2K, $4,700 on $5K, $9,400 on $10K, $18,800 on $20K. FundedNext's example on $10K: balance $10,200, floor $9,600. Two things surprise people. Losses never lower the floor, and a withdrawal does not reset it either: the floor stays where it reached, so a withdrawal shrinks your gap.
My experience: on Instant, give back profit and you also give back room. Take partial profits and keep size small until the floor locks at the starting balance.
Rule 3: the 3% risk limit on funded accounts
This is the rule that most new FundedNext Account holders have never read. FundedNext says traders must limit risk to a maximum of 3% at any given time in the FundedNext Account. "Risk" means the maximum potential loss based on your stop-loss placement, together with realised and floating losses, measured against the initial balance. Swap and commission are left out of this calculation.
3% risk in dollars
| Funded size | 3% open risk | After a second breach (1%) |
|---|---|---|
| $25K | $750 | $250 |
| $50K | $1,500 | $500 |
| $100K | $3,000 | $1,000 |
| $200K | $6,000 | $2,000 |
What happens when you break it
- First breach: a formal warning, and 100% of the profit from the violating trades is deducted from that cycle's reward.
- Second breach: the account is permanently moved to a 1% risk limit from the end of that trading day.
- If the deductions equal or exceed the cycle's net profit, no reward is issued for that cycle.
- All entries tied to the same idea count together, even if split into several orders. Manual and automated trading are treated the same.
FundedNext also states that a trade without a stop loss can be treated as carrying the full risk, which makes a missing stop the fastest way to break this rule. Always place the stop before you look at the profit.
My experience: three trades of 1% each on correlated pairs (EURUSD, GBPUSD, AUDUSD all long USD-short) is already 3%. Add one more and you are over.
Rule 4: Quick Strike (trades closed within 30 seconds)
FundedNext calls any position closed within 30 seconds of opening a Quick Strike trade. The profit from those trades must stay below 30% of your profit at all times.
- A warning comes at 20%.
- At 30% or more on a challenge account, advancement to the next phase is held.
- On a FundedNext Account, a breach after the warning ends the account at the end of the cycle, and all Quick Strike profit is forfeited.
Quick Strike in dollars
Say your 2-Step $50K Phase 1 profit is $4,000. Quick Strike profit must stay below $1,200 (30%). The warning comes at $800 (20%). A scalper who takes many very quick wins can hit this without realising it.
Rule 5: the 40% news rule
News trading is allowed at FundedNext. In the challenge, there is no restriction. On FundedNext Accounts (1-Step, 2-Step and Lite), trades executed from 5 minutes before to 5 minutes after a listed high-impact event on a directly related pair count only 40% of their profit. Losses count in full. Stellar Instant follows the same 40% rule.
The news rule in dollars
FundedNext's own example: $10,000 of normal profit plus $3,000 from profitable news trades. Only 40% of the $3,000 counts ($1,200), so the cycle total is $11,200, not $13,000. Only high-impact events that match the pair count: EURUSD during USD or EUR news is covered, EURUSD during CNY news is not.
My experience: on a funded account, a news spike costs you 60% of the upside and 100% of the downside. Most traders are better off flat for those 10 minutes.
Rule 6: inactivity, hyperactivity and banned strategies
30 days without a trade
FundedNext's CFD inactivity rule: if you do not place a trade for 30 consecutive calendar days, the account is marked inactive and deactivated. Weekends and holidays count. Logging in is not enough; a trade is.
Hyperactivity
200 or more trades, or 2,000 or more server messages, in one day counts as hyperactive. The first and second time bring warnings; the third breaches the account. 15,000 messages in one day disables the account at once.
Strategies that are banned outright
- Hedging across accounts (hedging inside one account is allowed).
- Arbitrage of any kind, latency trading, grid trading and tick scalping.
- Copying another person's account, or using cloud copiers. Copying is allowed only between your own challenge accounts, within a $300,000 total.
- Account sharing, device sharing and paid "account management".
- Consistently profiting during the 00:00 to 02:00 server-time settlement window.
FundedNext also notes that taking a full or near-full daily loss in one trade can be treated as a multi-account hedge.
Rule 7: KYC, wallets and country limits
- KYC: complete it within 30 days of passing, or the account can be deactivated. Review takes about 48 hours, with 3 attempts (5 for Iraq and Nigeria).
- Wallets: every trader must use a unique withdrawal wallet. A shared address brings a warning first, then suspension or termination.
- Allocation: $300,000 of combined funded capital on 1-Step, 2-Step and Lite ($200,000 for Lite). Traders in Cambodia, Mongolia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Taiwan, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Pakistan are capped at $50,000.
- VPNs: hiding a restricted residency with a VPN or another person's identity can end the account.
The full country list and payout details sit on the FundedNext firm details tab.
Rule 8: swaps, commission and leverage
These are not "rules" in the breach sense, but they quietly eat the daily limit.
Costs that count toward the daily loss
- Forex commission: $5 per lot on 1-Step and 2-Step, $7 on Lite and Instant, charged once when the trade opens.
- Other markets: metals 0.0016%, crypto 0.04% and stocks 0.004% of the trade value; no commission on indices on Stellar Instant.
- Swaps: charged on positions held overnight and counted toward daily loss. Triple swap is Wednesday for forex and commodities, Friday for indices.
Example: 10 lots of EURUSD on a $50K 1-Step costs $50 in commission on the way in. With a $1,500 daily limit, that is about 3% of your day gone before the price moves.
Leverage by model
| Market | 1-Step | 2-Step and Lite (challenge) | 2-Step and Lite (funded) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Forex | 1:30 | 1:100 | 1:100 |
| Indices | 1:10 | 1:25 | 1:15 |
| Commodities | 1:15 (1:10 funded) | 1:25 | 1:15 |
| Crypto CFDs | 1:1 | 1:1 | 1:1 |
| Stocks | 1:2 | 1:2 | 1:2 |
Lower leverage on indices and commodities after funding means the same lot size needs more margin. Check it before your first funded trade.
A simple checklist to avoid every rule above
- Write down your daily loss and floor in dollars before the first trade (use the tables above).
- Risk 0.5% to 1% per trade. Check lot size in the position size calculator.
- Always place a stop loss, and keep total open risk under 3% on funded accounts.
- Count correlated pairs as one idea.
- Hold winners longer than 30 seconds.
- Be flat 5 minutes before and after high-impact news on funded accounts.
- Place at least one trade every few weeks on idle accounts.
- Finish KYC as soon as you pass.
For the full plan, read how to pass the FundedNext challenge. FundedNext changes rules from time to time (Stellar Lite's minimum days and reward cycle changed for accounts bought from 12 October 2026), so check the rule changes tracker before you buy.
The fee is the one thing you control before trading
You cannot change these rules, but you can pay less for the account. FundedNext promo code BRIDGE is independently verified: Akash Mane, founder of Prop Firm Bridge, tested it by hand at FundedNext's own checkout on 21 October 2026. That day it took the Stellar 2-Step $6K from $39.99 to $19.99, and gave 7% off the larger sizes, for example the Stellar 1-Step $50K from $329.99 to $306.89. The 7% on larger sizes is for new FundedNext customers; the starter sizes work for returning buyers too, up to five uses. BRIDGE never changes a rule. Check the FundedNext discount code price for your size before you buy.

Frequently asked questions
Initial balance times the daily loss % of your model (3% on 1-Step, 5% on 2-Step, 4% on Lite). It resets at 00:00 server time, and swaps, commission and fees count toward it. On a $100K 2-Step that is $5,000.
On FundedNext Accounts, your open risk based on stop-loss placement plus realised and floating losses must not pass 3% of the initial balance at any time. A first breach brings a warning and removes the profit from those trades; a second breach drops the account to 1% permanently.
Trades closed within 30 seconds of opening. Their profit must stay below 30% of your total profit. A warning comes at 20%; on a funded account a further breach ends the account at cycle end and forfeits Quick Strike profit.
Yes. In the challenge there is no restriction. On FundedNext Accounts, profit from trades within 5 minutes before and after a listed high-impact event on a related pair counts at 40%, while losses count in full.
30 consecutive calendar days without a trade. After that the account is marked inactive and deactivated. Weekends and holidays count toward the 30 days.
