Quick answer: to pass a FundedNext challenge, size every trade from the loss limits, not the target. On a $50K Stellar 2-Step you need $4,000 (Phase 1) and $2,500 (Phase 2), while never losing $2,500 in a day or $5,000 in total. Risk 0.5% ($250) per trade, stop for the day after two losses, trade at least 5 separate days per phase, and keep winners open longer than 30 seconds. There is no time limit on any FundedNext evaluation, so the plan below is built to be slow and survive.
All rules here come from FundedNext's help centre, read on 21 October 2026. To see what each size costs today with the code applied, the FundedNext coupon page lists every price, checked daily.
Step 1: pick the model that matches how you lose
Before strategy, match the model to your normal losing streak.
| Model | Target | Daily loss | Max loss | Target ÷ max loss |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stellar 2-Step | 8% then 5% | 5% | 10% | 0.8, then 0.5 |
| Stellar Lite | 8% then 4% | 4% | 8% | 1.0, then 0.5 |
| Stellar 1-Step | 10% | 3% | 6% | 1.67 |
The last column is the one that matters. On 1-Step you must make 1.67 times your total loss room. On 2-Step, Phase 1 asks for less than your loss room. That is why most traders should start with 2-Step. The full comparison is in FundedNext 1-Step vs 2-Step vs Lite vs Instant.
My experience: if you have ever had five losers in a row, 1-Step's 3% daily limit will hurt. Choose the model for your bad week, not your good one.
Step 2: turn the rules into dollars
The $50K Stellar 2-Step in dollars
| Item | Phase 1 | Phase 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Profit target | $4,000 (8%) | $2,500 (5%) |
| Daily loss limit | $2,500 | $2,500 |
| Maximum loss floor | $45,000 | $45,000 |
| Minimum days | 5 | 5 |
| Time limit | None | None |
The $100K Stellar 1-Step in dollars
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Profit target | $10,000 (10%) |
| Daily loss limit | $3,000 (3%) |
| Maximum loss floor | $94,000 (6%) |
| Minimum days | 2 |
Every other size is in FundedNext rules that fail traders, and on the FundedNext challenges tab.
Two details that change the maths
- Daily loss is from the initial balance. Being up $3,000 does not give you more room tomorrow. It resets at 00:00 server time.
- Swaps and commission count toward the daily loss. Forex commission is $5 per lot on 1-Step and 2-Step and $7 on Lite. Forex swaps are tripled on Wednesday.
Step 3: set risk per trade
The simplest safe rule: risk an amount where two full losses in a day stay well inside the daily limit, and ten losses in a row stay inside the maximum loss.
| Account | Risk per trade | Two losses | Losses to max loss |
|---|---|---|---|
| $50K 2-Step | 0.5% = $250 | $500 of $2,500 daily | 20 |
| $100K 2-Step | 0.5% = $500 | $1,000 of $5,000 daily | 20 |
| $50K Lite | 0.5% = $250 | $500 of $2,000 daily | 16 |
| $100K 1-Step | 0.4% = $400 | $800 of $3,000 daily | 15 |
With a 1:2 reward-to-risk, a $250 risk wins $500. Phase 1 on a $50K 2-Step needs eight net winners. That is not fast, but there is no deadline.
Turn the dollar risk into a lot size with our position size calculator. FundedNext's forex leverage is 1:100 on 2-Step and Lite and 1:30 on 1-Step, so on 1-Step check that your lot size fits the margin as well.
The daily stop rule
Stop trading for the day after two losses or after losing 1% of the account, whichever comes first. The daily limit is almost never broken by one trade; it is broken by the trade after the second loss.
Step 4: plan the days
Minimum days
Stellar 2-Step needs 5 separate days per phase with at least one trade each. Stellar 1-Step needs 2 days. Stellar Lite needs 2 days per phase for accounts bought or reset from 12 October 2026 (5 before that). Reaching the target early does not waive the minimum.
No time limit is your edge
FundedNext's evaluations have no deadline. Use it. If the week is choppy, trade one small position to log the day, or do not trade at all. The only time pressure is the 30-day inactivity rule: place at least one trade within every 30 calendar days.
Phase 2 is not Phase 1
On 2-Step, Phase 2 needs only 5% but keeps the same 10% loss room. Cut risk per trade by a third in Phase 2. Many traders fail Phase 2 because they keep the Phase 1 pace when they need half the profit.
Step 5: know what the challenge allows
Platforms and instruments
FundedNext lists MT4, MT5, cTrader and Match-Trader on our firm record, with forex, indices, commodities, crypto CFDs and stocks. You can switch platform only before any trade on the account; US clients are limited to Match-Trader.
News trading in the challenge
News trading is allowed in the challenge, and the 40% news rule does not apply to challenge accounts. It applies only once you are funded (1-Step, 2-Step and Lite FundedNext Accounts, and Stellar Instant). So you can trade news to pass, but build a funded plan that avoids the 5 minutes either side of high-impact events.
Holding overnight and weekends
Both are allowed on every current Stellar model. Swaps are charged and count toward the daily loss.
EAs and copy trading
FundedNext sells an EA add-on and a VPS and EA add-on at checkout; its help guides say neither is available on $50,000 accounts and above. Copy trading is allowed only between your own FundedNext challenge accounts, within $300,000 in total. Copying someone else, or using cloud copiers, is banned.
Step 6: avoid the rules that fail good traders
- Quick Strike: profit from trades closed within 30 seconds must stay below 30% of your profit. At 30% or more, FundedNext holds your move to the next phase.
- Hyperactivity: 200 or more trades, or 2,000 server messages, in one day brings warnings; the third time breaches the account.
- Prohibited: hedging across accounts, arbitrage, latency trading, grid trading, tick scalping, account sharing and "account management".
- One full-size bet: FundedNext says putting a full or near-full daily loss at risk in one trade can be treated as a multi-account hedge.
My experience: the traders I see fail FundedNext with a good strategy usually broke Quick Strike or the daily limit, not the target. Both are habits, and both are fixable before you buy.
A sample Phase 1 week on a $50K 2-Step
This is an illustration of the plan in action, not a forecast. Risk is $250 a trade at 1:2.
| Day | Trades | Result | Balance | Daily rule check |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mon | 2 | +1 win, -1 loss = +$250 | $50,250 | Fine |
| Tue | 2 | 2 losses = -$500, stop for the day | $49,750 | $500 of $2,500 used |
| Wed | 1 | +1 win = +$500 | $50,250 | Triple swap day: avoid holding overnight |
| Thu | 2 | 2 wins = +$1,000 | $51,250 | Fine |
| Fri | 1 | +1 win = +$500 | $51,750 | Fine; day 5 logged |
After one week the account is up $1,750, 44% of the way to the $4,000 target, and the 5-day minimum is met. Another week like it finishes Phase 1. The losing Tuesday cost $500, a fifth of one day's limit.
After a losing day
Do not raise size the next day to win it back. On FundedNext the daily limit resets at 00:00 server time to the same dollar figure, so a calm next day costs you nothing. Halve your risk after two losing days in a row, and go back to normal after a winning day.
Add-ons worth knowing before you buy
- No Minimum Trading Days: removes the minimum days, on the $6K, $15K and $25K sizes only.
- Swap-Free: removes overnight swaps, useful if you hold trades for days.
- Double Up: a second identical challenge at 60% off, unlocked after passing Phase 1 (maximum allocation $600,000).
- 150% Reward: pays 150% of the fee back as the Refundable Fee.
- Max loss 10% (Lite only): raises Lite's maximum loss from 8% to 10%.
Each add-on costs extra at checkout. Only buy the one that fixes the rule you are most likely to break.
Step 7: get ready for the funded account
Passing changes the rules. On the FundedNext Account:
- 3% risk limit: open risk, from your stops plus floating and realised losses, must stay under 3% of the initial balance at all times. A first breach removes the profit from those trades; a second moves the account to 1% for good.
- 40% news rule: profit inside the news window counts 40%; losses count in full.
- KYC: finish within 30 days of passing; review takes about 48 hours.
Then read FundedNext payouts explained for the reward cycles, and the FundedNext scale-up plan to see how a steady 4% a cycle grows the account.
A one-page FundedNext challenge plan
- Model: 2-Step unless your losses are small and steady.
- Write the target, daily limit and floor in dollars on a sticky note.
- Risk 0.5% per trade (0.4% on 1-Step). Use the calculator every time.
- Stop after two losses or 1% down in a day.
- Trade 5 separate days per phase on 2-Step, even if you hit the target early.
- Cut risk by a third in Phase 2.
- Hold trades longer than 30 seconds.
- Count commission and swaps in your daily number.
- Once funded, keep open risk under 3% and stay flat around high-impact news.
- Check the rule changes tracker before you buy, in case FundedNext changed a rule this week.

Cheaper attempts mean less pressure
A lower fee makes it easier to trade calmly and take a second attempt if you need one. FundedNext discount code BRIDGE is independently verified: Akash Mane, founder of Prop Firm Bridge, tested it by hand at FundedNext's own checkout on 21 October 2026. That day the Stellar 2-Step $50K went from $299.99 to $278.99 (7% off) and the Stellar 2-Step $6K from $39.99 to $19.99. The 7% on larger sizes is for new FundedNext customers; the starter sizes work for returning buyers too, up to five uses. The code never changes a rule. Check today's FundedNext coupon code price for your size.

Frequently asked questions
Pick Stellar 2-Step, risk about 0.5% per trade, stop after two losses in a day, trade at least 5 separate days per phase and use the fact that there is no time limit. On a $50K 2-Step that means $250 risk per trade against a $2,500 daily limit.
No. None of the Stellar evaluation models has a time limit. The only time rule is inactivity: 30 calendar days without a trade deactivates the account.
Yes. Challenge accounts are not subject to the news rule. Once funded, profit from trades within 5 minutes before and after a listed high-impact event on a related pair counts at 40%.
FundedNext sells an EA add-on and a VPS and EA add-on at checkout, and its help guides say they are not available on $50,000 accounts and above. Check the add-on options for your size before you buy.
At least 5 separate trading days in each phase, so at least 10 days in total. Reaching the target early does not waive the minimum.
